The Belgian government has updated its driver’s licenses and ID cards. The changes include a brand-new design featuring a blue background with white text, a change in font size, and a new logo. The new documents are meant to make it easier for people to identify themselves.
The old IDs were printed on paper, while the new ones are digital. How to become a driver in Belgium
The process of obtaining a Belgian driver’s licence is fairly straight forward and simple. You must be 18 years old, hold a valid passport, complete a short application form, pay €10 ($11), take a medical examination, and pass a vision test. After you receive your license, you are required to renew it every three years. If you want to change your address, you must notify the authorities within 14 days.
You can apply for a temporary permit while you are waiting for your permanent one. This allows you to drive during the period of validity of your permit, which lasts up to six months.
