This amount does not apply to those seeking entry under the skilled worker program. Applicants must show proof of financial resources equal to at least three times the annual salary of the position being applied for.
For example, someone looking to work as a registered nurse must demonstrate a total income of at least $21,600 CAD ($18,500 USD).
In addition, the new rule requires applicants to submit bank statements showing that they have access to $11,250 CAD ($9,300 USD) within 90 days of submitting their application.
Those who do not meet the above criteria will no longer receive a decision on their application. Instead, they will be placed into a queue for further consideration.
