Who Needs a Schengen Visa to Enter The Netherlands?
The Dutch government wants to make it easier for tourists to enter the country without having to apply for a visa. Starting next month, visitors to the Netherlands will no longer need a Schengen visa to enter the country. Instead, they will just need a passport and proof of onward travel. The change applies to anyone traveling to the Netherlands from outside the European Union. Visitors from countries within the EU are still required to obtain a visa.
Surprisingly, Schengen visas are only available at airports and border crossings. They allow travelers to move freely between participating countries without being subjected to additional checks. In order to qualify for a Schengen visa, you must first apply for a standard tourist visa. This type of visa allows you to enter the country for up to 90 days. After this period has passed, you can apply for a Schengen permit. It’s important to note that you cannot use a Schengen visa as an alternative to a regular tourist visa.
Schengen visas are issued by national authorities. For example, the French consulate issues them. Each country sets its own rules regarding how long a visitor needs to remain in the country. Additional Dutch Visa Requirements for Minors
The Netherlands has introduced stricter visa requirements for minors traveling abroad. Under the new rules, minors under 16 must apply for a visa prior to travel, while those aged 17 and 18 must do so within three months of arrival. Requirements for Dutch Visa for short-term visits:
Besides short-term visitors must provide proof of sufficient funds and a short-stay visa to cover their stay in the Netherlands. The amount is determined by the length of stay. It can range from €500 to €5000 per person.
For stays up to 30 days, you must provide a bank statement showing a balance equal to at least €1000.
For stays between 31 and 90 days, you must provide an invoice for a sum of at least €2000.
For stays longer than 90 days, you must show a bank statement showing a minimum balance of €3,000.

For example, you could become a student at one of the many universities located throughout the country, work for a multinational corporation, or simply immigrate to the Netherlands under the EU Blue Card program. However, if none of those options appeal to you, there is still another way to gain residency status in the Netherlands. You might be surprised to learn how much it costs to apply for a Dutch visa.
Although in 2017, the average cost of applying for a Dutch visa was $1,849, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This includes everything from application fees to travel expenses. If you’re looking to make the move yourself, you’ll want to factor in additional costs such as housing, transportation, living expenses, and health insurance.
Generally, to find out exactly what it will take to obtain a Dutch visa, we spoke with IOM Deputy Director General William Lacy Swing. He told us that obtaining a residence permit in the Netherlands requires a lot of paperwork. First, you must apply for a Schengen Visa. Then, once you arrive in the Netherlands, you must register with the local police department within five days of arrival. If you plan to apply for a Dutch immigration visa, you’ll need to pay close attention to the following requirements:
• Minimum Age Requirements
You must be 18 or older to apply for a Dutch entry visa.
• Language Prerequisites
You must speak English fluently.
• Background Investigation
There must be no criminal convictions on your record.
• Medical Examine

After submitting your information, you’ll receive an email confirmation stating when your application has been received by IND. How Long Can We Stay in the Netherlands Without a Visa?
Meanwhile if you want to live and work in the Netherlands without a valid visa, you might be out of luck. A Dutch immigration law states that foreigners must apply for a residence permit within three months of arrival. This includes people who are granted temporary residency permits.
The maximum length of stay for such residents is one year. After that period, you must either obtain a residence permit or leave the country. You cannot remain indefinitely.
In addition, there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, students and exchange visitors do not require a residence permit. Also, if you are employed by a Dutch employer, you don’t need a residence permit.
